The Belkorie region is an island located near a large continent of small interconnected, landlocked countries. The region is open to a wide variety of weather conditions but remains mostly mild throughout the year with a temperate climate. The western edge of the entire region is covered in large mountains and crags and experiences snowfall for much of the year. In stark contrast the eastern part of the region is covered by dry and desolate plains, eventually tapering off towards the warm seas in the form of dry, sandy beaches.

The region itself is densely populated; mostly in the mid-to-eastern parts of the island where large forests grow and several rivers flow into its centre. These rivers have become vital economical and social hubs of power, with many large cities and communities appearing here.

The region's Pokemon laboratory is located in Westlake Town, near the south-western shoreline, and trainers are given their choice of three starter Pokemon: Chikorita (Grass), Charmander (Fire) and Mudkip (Water).

Belkorie has eight official Pokemon League Gyms and its very own Elite Four, as well as a Battle Frontier facility which includes a Battle Tower. Belkorie is also home to the Belkorie Contest Circuit, an annual Pokemon contest league which begins in January and ends in December with the Belkorie Grand Festival. As a general rule, the more experienced and difficult Pokemon challenges in the region take place just offshore, on one of the many scattered islets to the south.
